Foetal duck egg in Vietnam.

Hot Vit Lon…

Or foetal”unborn” duck eggs are rather popular in Vietnam.

Thanks to the influence of the Chinese in the north you can chow down on a baby duck in the full shell pretty much everywhere in Vietnam…

So it stands to reason that when in Rome (or Dalat as it were) we had to try ALL the local fare

Boiling hot, a little crunchy and almost unrecognisable, when dipped in the sauce it was almost possible to forget what I was eating

2 teaspoons were more than enough to at least say “I did it”…

The realisation later that the ducks would’ve been boiled alive was a hard thought to come to terms with though

I don’t think I’ll be having seconds

My husband has always wanted to try this, and I would probably have a bite or two just because. But wow, crazy!
